Impacts of climate and land-use changes on floristic diversity and botanical services at a regional scale
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a PhD project at the Botanical Garden and University of Geneva, Switzerland. The project is supported by the University of Geneva (assistant position) for four years (2017-2021) and includes the usual social benefits.
Project: The project is about assessing and predicting the impact of climate and land use changes on the floristic diversity and ecosystem services of the Geneva region.
Profile: The ideal candidates should be a botanist who should have good basic knowledge of botany, spatial ecology, GIS, modelling and statistics. We are particularly interested in students that already have experience with ecosystem services and landscape management. Good writing skills in English are a must and familiarity with French is required.
Candidates must have a master’s degree in biology or environmental sciences. Skills and experience in botany/floristic is mandatory to supervise the practical works on plant systematics with biology students (second year bachelor students). The successful candidate will also participate to the supervision of Master and certificate of geomatics students in relationship with her/his PhD project.

The PhD project will be co-directed by the GIS unit at the Botanical Garden (www.ville-ge.ch/cjb/activites_labo_sig_en.php) and the enviroSPACE lab at the University of Geneva (www.unige.ch/envirospace).
