Sous la supervision de Sébastien Rioux, professeur adjoint et titulaire de la Chaire de recherche du Canada en économie politique de l’alimentation et du bien-être, l’étudiant.e aura l’opportunité de développer un projet de recherche dans l’un des trois domaines suivants : (1) l’économie politique de l’alimentation; (2) la géographie du travail; et (3) la géographie critique de la santé.
Rémunération :
Bourse: 15,000 $ par année pendant trois ans (jusqu’à un tiers de la bourse sous forme d’auxiliariat de recherche et/ou d’enseignement). L’étudiant.e sera encouragé.e à soumettre une demande de soutien à la recherche au niveau provincial ou fédéral. Des fonds supplémentaires pour la recherche et la participation à des conférences sont possibles.

La date prévue d’entrée en fonction est septembre 2017 (janvier 2018 au plus tard).
Le candidat/ la candidate :
Une préférence sera accordée aux candidats.es ayant complété une maîtrise en géographie ou dans un domaine connexe (e.g. sociologie, relations industrielles/études du travail, science politique).
Autres compétences et expériences souhaitées :
* Formation en théorie critique;
* Formation ou expérience dans les techniques d’enquête et d’analyse en sciences sociales;
* Compétences en communication orale et résolution de problèmes;
* Capacité à travailler en français et en anglais.

PhD Position in Human Geography, Department of Geography, University of Montreal, Canada
This studentship represents an exciting opportunity to develop a project rooted in one of the following three areas: (1) the political economy of food; (2) labour geography; and (3) critical health geography. The successful candidate will be supervised by Sébastien Rioux, Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in the Political Economy of Food & Wellbeing.
Remuneration:
Stipend: guaranteed minimum of $15,000 per year for 3 years (up to a third of the stipend will be in the form of research/teaching assistantship). The candidate will be expected to apply for provincial and/or federal research support. Additional funds for research and conference attendance are available.
When?
The candidate is expected to begin in September 2017 or in January 2018 at the latest.

Eligibility:
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree of high standing in geography or in a related field (e.g. sociology, labour studies, politics). Other preferred skills and experiences:
* Training or experience in critical social science research theories and methodologies;
* Evidence of strong communication, problem solving and time-management skills;
* Ability or willingness to study and work in both French and English.
